The Dumke Floral Walk, designed by Esther Truitt Henrichsen, a local designer, extends from the Oak Sculpture to the Rose Garden. The majority of plants displayed are flowering plants which collectively bloom from February through November.

This garden area is broken up into different sections according to sun and wind exposure.

• Mediterranean – The uppermost part of the Floral Walk displays plants that have a Mediterranean feel.
• Woodland – The Serviceberries (Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’) are planted to arch over the pathway and provide shade for various flowering plants. Underplanted with native Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) which fruit in June, Hosta (Hosta), Barrenwort (Epimedium), Lenten Rose (Hellebore), Sweet Woodruff (Galium) a natural insect repellent, and Wood Hyacinth (Hyacinthoides hispanica ‘Excelsior’). In the spring, over 19,000 daffodils and other unique bulbs can also be found blooming here.
• Arbors – The arbors were designed by Rob McFarland, a local designer. Fruiting pears planted on either side are being trained to grow over and cover the arbors to provide shade.
• Hot Wall – Receiving full exposure from the south and the west, this bed was designed with plants that love the heat and the sun!
• Cottage Garden – This shadier section features part of our collection of Lilacs (Syringa) and Crabapples (Malus), as well as some common English cottage garden plants: Iris (Iris), Peonies (Paeonia), Roses (Rosa), Columbine (Aguilegia), Asters (Aster) and others.
• The Floral Bouquet – The raised-bed rings were added in 2002 in honor of the Winter Olympics in Utah and provide a great place to display annual plantings and plant combinations.
